臺灣指揮家吳曜宇於24歲時榮獲法國貝桑頌國際指揮大賽首獎、樂團大獎及觀眾大獎,成為該賽事自創立以來最年輕的三獎得主。2023年更於香港國際指揮大賽中摘下亞軍,同時榮獲最佳新委約作品演繹獎與觀眾大獎,進一步奠定其於國際舞台上的地位。

其指揮風格融合熱情與優雅,並展現極高的藝術感染力,深受國際樂界肯定。現任高雄市交響樂團駐團指揮,曾於2021/22及2022/23兩個樂季擔任國家交響樂團(Taiwan Philharmonic)協同指揮,亦曾出任台北愛樂青年管弦樂團音樂總監暨首席指揮。

吳曜宇的足跡遍及歐亞,合作樂團包括聖彼得堡交響樂團、波蘭國家廣播交響樂團、法國波爾多國家樂團、洛林國家交響樂團、羅亞爾河交響樂團、香港小交響樂團、澳門交響樂團、國家交響樂團(臺灣愛樂)、國立臺灣交響樂團、台北市立交響樂團與長榮交響樂團等。其合作音樂家亦涵蓋多位國際知名演奏家,如郎朗、Nemanja Radulović、Ilya Gringolts、Dmitry Masleev、Daniel Müller-Schott、Camille Thomas、Alexei Volodin,以及林昭亮、胡乃元、楊文信等。

在錄音領域方面,2019年應國立臺灣交響樂團邀請,與琵琶演奏家吳蠻及大提琴家楊文信合作,錄製當代作曲家陳世慧之專輯《菅芒花》,該專輯由美國New World Records正式發行,廣獲好評。

於歌劇領域亦展現其藝術張力,2024年與高雄市交響樂團推出普契尼《托斯卡》,與Stephen Costello、Aleksay Bogdanov等國際歌唱家合作,演出獲得熱烈迴響。早於2019年即參與國家交響樂團《托斯卡》製作,並擔任巡演客座指揮。其他重要歌劇製作尚包括《糖果屋》與《夢遊女》,均獲專業好評。

除演出活動外,吳曜宇亦致力於音樂教育與推廣,不僅多次擔任音樂會導聆與文案撰寫,亦積極參與推廣講座與教育活動,分享其音樂見解與實務經驗。

曾獲《PAR表演藝術》雜誌評選為「2013音樂年度人物」,並入圍2014年「臺灣十大傑出青年」候選人。2017年起短暫推辭演出邀約,並赴奧地利維也納表演藝術大學進修,以拓展其藝術視野與專業深度。

At the age of 24, Taiwanese conductor Yao-Yu Wu won the Grand Prize, Orchestra Prize, and Audience Prize at the prestigious International Besançon Competition for Young Conductors, becoming the youngest laureate in the competition\\\\\\\'s history to sweep all three awards. In 2023, he continued to gain international acclaim by securing Second Prize at the Hong Kong International Conducting Competition, along with the Award for Best Interpretation of the Commissioned Work and the Audience Prize.

Wu is widely praised for a conducting style that blends expressive clarity with refined elegance, captivating both orchestras and audiences alike. He currently serves as Resident Conductor of the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra. He was also Associate Conductor of the Taiwan Philharmonic (National Symphony Orchestra) during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, and previously held the post of Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Taipei Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.

His engagements span Europe and Asia, having conducted the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Macao Orchestra, Taiwan Philharmonic, National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, and Evergreen Symphony Orchestra. Wu has collaborated with many esteemed soloists, including Lang Lang, Nemanja Radulović, Ilya Gringolts, Dmitry Masleev, Daniel Müller-Schott, Camille Thomas, Alexei Volodin, Cho-Liang Lin, Nai-Yuan Hu, and Wen-Sinn Yang.

In 2019, Wu was invited by the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra to record Silvergrass, an album of contemporary works by composer Shih-Hui Chen, featuring pipa virtuoso Wu Man and cellist Wen-Sinn Yang. The album was released on New World Records to critical acclaim.

A passionate opera conductor, Wu led Puccini’s Tosca with the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra in 2024, receiving high praise for his collaboration with Stephen Costello, Aleksay Bogdanov, and Laura Wilde. In 2019, he served as assistant conductor to Shao-Chia Lü in the Taiwan Philharmonic’s production of Tosca, later conducting its touring performances. His earlier operatic credits include nsel und Gretel and La Sonnambula, both of which garnered strong professional reception.

Equally committed to education and outreach, Wu frequently delivers pre-concert talks, writes program notes, and leads lectures and masterclasses at academic and cultural institutions, sharing his deep insights on music and performance.

He was named one of the “2013 Musicians of the Year” by PAR Performing Arts Review and was nominated for the 2014 “Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Taiwan.” In pursuit of artistic growth, Wu took a sabbatical from most engagements during the 2017/18 season to pursue advanced studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
